Spending Challenge Re LGO

Postby Ann » Sat Jul 10, 2010 5:59 pm

I have just spotted this spending challenge entry by Tezekpo

Local Government Ombudsman office is a sham and irrational waste of very limited funds

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) office is a very costly financial burden which we cannot afford or justify the existence of.

After more than ten years of dealing with the LGO office , I have reached the conclusion that it is everything that it is not supposed to be ( ie ineffectual, unaccountable, unjust, unhelpful, secretive, out-dated and biased against complainants). It is not really serving any purpose and should be closed down or replaced as soon as possible.

The following websites show that many indiviuials from all over the country have reached similar conclusions from bitter experience of dealing with the LGO.

How the idea could be implemented

Close down the LGO office or replace it with an independent, fair, honest, accountable, efficient and helpful alternative. Decrease the perks and salaries to ensure that only those who have genuine interest in serving the public will put themselves forward for the new alternative office- not ex local Authority fat cats.

Well done Ms Ezekpo. Even if the government don't accept your idea it spreads the word about the ineffectual, unaccountable, unjust, unhelpful, secretive, out-dated and biased against complainants LGO. :bounce:

Looks like a friend of the LGO has voted against the suggestion to get rid of the LGO and dragged the average score down from 5 stars to 4.4

I voted and commented on the spending challenge submitted by T Ezekpo and was very angry  when they removed it but I have just picked up a tweet which identifies another option. Although you can no longer vote for the submission by T Ezekpo you can still submit your own, which following the advice of @lgowatcher I am just about to do. Tweet RT@lgowatcher Spending Challenge: An update. Scrap the LGO.. http://bit.ly/9VUNfX
